As a brand photographer in London, I’m always drawn to projects that centre around connection, wellness and community. So when Community Sauna Baths invited me to capture the soft launch of their newest site in Ruskin Park, Camberwell, I was all in.
I’ve adored this not-for-profit for a while - they’re on a mission to make affordable saunas and cold plunges accessible to everyone in London. Each of their sites has its own vibe, but what unites them is a strong sense of community. Every time I visit, I end up in deep conversation with someone new. That’s the magic of the sauna: no phones, no distractions - just total presence, a shared love of the hot and cold plus some real connection.
Their original site is in Hackney Wick, and they’ve since expanded to Stratford, Bermondsey and Peckham, with Walthamstow also opening soon! This one is super close to me, so excited about this! Their new Camberwell site is tucked into leafy Ruskin Park, right beside a community garden with a an epic view of the sunset.
I arrived on a sunny April day, just as the team was winding down after a long day of building. The space wasn’t fully open to the public yet, which gave me a chance to capture some relaxed, behind-the-scenes moments: the team hopping between three different saunas and icy cold plunges as the steam rose through streams of sunlight. This is the kind of environment I love photographing - natural, unposed and full of energy.
If you’re looking for soulful brand photography that reflects the heart of your project - whether you’re building a community space, running a wellness event or launching something new - I’d love to hear from you.
And I’ll definitely be back to enjoy the saunas at Ruskin Park soon, when I can put my camera down and enjoy the heat.
