Definitely my most colourful and playful Soulful Shoot to date with clinical psychologist Dr Karen Treisman MBE - complete with puppets, miniatures, bubbles, feathers and paints!
Karen is an award-winning, highly specialised clinical psychologist, organisational consultant, trainer, author and trauma specialist based in Hertfordshire.
From our very first call, I loved Karen’s energy and passion for what she does. She’s spent lots of time living abroad and her home is filled with treasures from around the world, plus artwork she’s created herself.
Several years ago, Karen left the NHS and social services to offer creative and flexible relational services across a multitude of sectors and countries. She wanted to combine psychology with the arts and creativity, fusing her work with social justice and human rights.
No day is ever the same for Karen - she works across social services, the police, NHS, schools, charities and prisons, supporting individuals, families, communities and organisations.
A huge part of her approach is using creativity to make psychology accessible and engaging, often through stories, visuals, and playful tools. She’s also written multiple books and designed her own therapeutic cards (you’ll spot some of them in the photos below). What a woman! So inspiring to spend time with her and learn more about her incredible work - we could have talked for hours!
For our brand shoot, Karen wanted a relaxed, fun session that felt natural, joyful and full of colour - I think we totally nailed the brief! Including her huge collection of books, cards, puppets and miniatures, the new photos will update her website, social media and even appear on the back of her next book covers.
We decided to shoot at her Hertfordshire home and in her lovely garden, where she felt most comfortable. We had such a great time together - especially when the paints and feathers came out! Thanks Karen, it was such a joy to work with you.
“I had a fantastic photoshoot with Brenna. She is a great person and photographer. We had a lot of fun and she really put me at ease. She was open to lots of ideas and took the time to really think about what I wanted to achieve. We got some brilliant photos and they are super varied in terms of poses, positioning, outfits, style etc. We managed serious ones and also Brenna was up for my more playful colourful ones.
