Meet Penny Akester, a jeweller and teacher who invited me along to her home studio in Camden for a Soulful Shoot.
Penny's been passionate about making jewellery since she was at school, starting out with beadwork and evening silversmithing classes before going on to study jewellery and silversmithing at art college. And she hasn't stopped creating since!
One of the things Penny loves most about jewellery making is the endless possibilities. From clay, wood and paper to metals, beads and glass, there's so much to experiment with. She's fascinated by how things are made and loves sharing everything she's learned with her students.
Penny has two studios at home, where she regularly welcomes people for jewellery-making classes and workshops.
Penny wanted to refresh her existing photos and have a new collection of images to use across her website, social media and newsletters, helping her spread the word about her classes and attract more students.
So for our Soulful Shoot, she invited a lovely group of students over to her Camden studio for a creative session while I captured her teaching, everyone getting stuck in and all those beautiful little details of the jewellery-making process.
Such a lovely way to spend a few hours! ❤️
